Hey you,

I drove home from Philly this morning after a low key night with good friends. A bit after I got home, I visited my grandma with my family. I also attempted to clean out my closet, which I gave up for the night because I was too tired and needed to chill for a bit. Simple Sunday was pretty simple. So Night Y'all.

Hey you,

This weekend's adventure led me to the great city of Philadelphia. I traveled to visit a few different friends and enjoy the city. Thursday night was a low key night with a few friends just outside of the city. Friday was the fun party day, I traveled into the city and met up with old college friends. I drank a chocolate covered pretzel martini (far left picture) and a Marilyn Monroe (strawberry milkshake liquor drink) on South Street in the afternoon. We then had a house party and partook in the typical drinking games.

On Saturday, I traveled into the city to see a good friend from high school, who is about to graduate beauty school and she cut and styled my hair. Very happy with the results.

The Spectacular Now (movie)

Movie recommendation: The Spectacular Now.

I first read the book, which I also recommend. It's a coming of age, semi love story featuring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley. Teller plays the charecter Sutter, who is the typical friendly highschool party boy. You follow his story and how he grows up in the months around his high school graduation. Woodley's character is a main focus in the movie and the audience can't help but fall in love with her. It's an unexpected story with an unexpected outcome. If you enjoyed 500 Days of Summer, you will enjoy this.

NYX Natural Palette

Hey you,

The NYX Natural Eyeshadow Palette is a 6 shade palette formed of natural shaded colors. The colors correspond nicely with one another and it is very easy to create wearable looks. The first two shades in the palette are very good highlight shades, with the second shade having more glitter. The middle shades appear nice in the packaging, but are very difficult to build the color on the skin. The deepest brown color is my personal favorite from this palette, it is a beautiful mate shade that is easily buildable to create smokey looks. Although in the packaging the product looks very rich in color, on the skin most of the colors have very little color payoff. You most definitely need an eyeshadow primer to make the colors more noticeable. It is a very affordable palette with nice wearable colors, though it has low pigments. I will probably not buy this same palette again, but I have enjoyed testing it out.

Ski Sunday

Hey you,

Happy Sunday, I hope everyone had a great weekend. Mine was fairly busy and I'm not looking forward to driving to work in the ice tomorrow. On a positive note, I was able to spend my day on the mountain, where I had quality time with my brother at our local small ski resort. The weather and snow were beautiful and perfect conditions. I was very excited to try my new boots and skis I received for Christmas, but I am still breaking in the boots. So the day was a little painful, but very enjoyable. Enjoy some of the scenery!

Day 4, although today should be travel, I am swapping Saturday and Sunday... Expect that from time to time. Below see the goods of the day. I went to the local Dick's Sporting Goods  and picked up new ski goggles and ski socks. Stocking up for the new season and can't wait to get out there!

Book Haul

For tonight's reading pleasures, I have a book haul of four books I recently purchased from the Amazon Kindle book store. I included reasons why I was interested in reading them and links to Amazon in case anyone is interested in purchasing. Girl, Interrupted

This is the first book I plan to start reading. Surprisingly, I have never seen the movie version of this book and I am thinking that may come as an advantage to get the most out of the book. Having graduated with a psychology degree and working with people diagnosed with mental health, I am very interested in reading the perspectives of this book. Apparently it focuses on borderline personality disorder and  life being hospitalized in the 1960's, both topics I find extremely interesting.

 The Story of a Beautiful Girl

Rachel Simon

This book is actually the Amazon Kindle book deal of the day. So at a $1.99, who can go wrong? That is what initially drew me to this book, but after reading the subject material, I became instantly intrigued. It shows the love of an unconventional couple, a woman with a developmental disorder and a deaf man. Having worked with individuals with developmental disorders, this book description sparked an interest with me.

I have been obsessed with the Breakfast at Tiffany's movie for the past 5 years, I had Audrey Hepburn images adorning my college dorm room walls, yet I never read the book. My good friend had mentioned reading the book before and had said it is a must read. So I must say I am excited to read this.

This is for you, whoever you are. Welcome to the first ever blog of Ivory and Heels. 

Journey with me, as I learn and search for new ways of expressing myself. This will be a blog about things I enjoy and want to share with others, whether being beauty products reviews, fashion insights, travel advise, Broadway show reviews, television, books, & movies or other ideas I feel worth sharing. I don't want this blog categorized under only a certain area. If you enjoy similar things as me, then please follow and read this blog.

This blog is for me at the start of this new year. Twenty Fourteen holds the potential of being the greatest year of  my twenty fifth year in existence. I have never been one for new years resolutions or giving things up for lent. I often thought of these as limiting yourself or setting yourself up as failure. Maybe if I start this year by challenge myself to write a daily blog, I will no longer view the idea of resolutions as failure, but as growth.  I value the importance of being well rounded and want this blog to reflect so. By writing a daily blog, I will expand my knowledge and share my ideas through words, pictures, videos, and other medias.

So join me as we journey through this new creation. Maybe we can all learn and grow throughout the way.
